Two places, one municipality
Down in the town, or up on the cape?
Santa Pola is really two places. Knowing which one you are in tells the locksmith what kind of door to expect and how to reach it.
The town
Some 24,700 people live round the fortress, the port and the beaches of Playa Lisa and Gran Playa, mostly in blocks of flats behind a communal street door. On summer evenings the streets round the Glorieta close to cars, so the last few metres are often on foot.
Gran Alacant
About 12,314 residents in more than twenty urbanisations on the cape, some four kilometres up the N-332: bungalows, terraced houses and villas, very often behind a community gate. English is widely spoken. Naming the urbanisation is half the address.
Both, and the beaches of the Elche coast next door, are covered day and night. See every place we drive to and what to tell us in each.
Services
What you can ring about
Stuck right now
- Emergency call-outs · day or night Keys on the wrong side of the door, a key that snapped in the cylinder, a lock that will not turn at midnight. Someone answers, asks where you are, and tells you plainly how long the drive is.
- Door opening · flats, bungalows, villas Front doors, armoured doors, community gates and PVC doors, opened through the lock or the latch whenever the door allows it. Drilling only if you agree to it.
- Locked car · opening only The keys are inside and the car is locked. It is opened without damage, and that is the whole job: no keys of any kind.
Work you can book
- Lock change & repair · booked ahead New cylinders for a front door, anti-snap upgrades, multipoint locks that have gone stiff with salt. Booked for a day and a time that suit you.
- Sliding doors · terraces and balconies Aluminium and PVC sliders on terraces and balconies that no longer catch, run or lock: hook locks, handles, rollers and keepers.
- Holiday lets & second homes · owners and managers Cylinders changed between guests, a guest locked out at check-in, a flat that has been shut since last summer. For the property you do not live in.
- Shops, bars & offices · business premises Shutter locks, glass shop doors, back doors and office locks for shops, bars, restaurants and offices, fitted around your opening hours.
- After a break-in · secure first, upgrade after A forced door made to shut and lock on the first visit. Later, if you want it, a stronger cylinder, a guard plate or a high-security lock.
- Safes · homes, lets and businesses Safes that reject the code, have a flat battery or came with the flat and no instructions. New safes fixed down where they cannot be carried away.
The local conditions
What sea air and empty months do to a lock
Santa Pola has four Blue Flag beaches, a working fishing port and 2,470 hectares of salt pans on its doorstep, and less than 240 mm of rain a year to rinse anything off. Salt and fine sand settle in cylinders, and in the small steel parts of multipoint locks and sliding doors, until one day the key grinds.
The other half of the story is time. Thousands of flats here are second homes or holiday lets, shut for months between visits, and a lock nobody turns is the one that seizes.
That is why so much of the work here is replacing a corroded cylinder, freeing a terrace slider or getting a holiday flat ready for the season. If you would rather look first, read what salt does inside a cylinder.
Before there are reviews
Five commitments while the reviews are missing
The business listing that will carry customer reviews is not up yet, and no testimonials are invented to fill the gap. These are the commitments instead.
- The price is agreed with you at the door, before any work starts.
- No promised arrival minute. You get an honest idea of the drive from where the van is.
- Opening through the lock comes first. Drilling only if you agree to it.
- Proof that you live there, or may enter, is asked for before anything is opened.
- English or Spanish, on the phone and at the door.

Asked on the phone
The questions people ask first
Can you make me a copy of my front door key?
No. This business does not cut, copy or supply keys of any kind, for homes or for cars. What it does is open doors, change and repair locks and cylinders, and open locked cars.
Do you come up to Gran Alacant as readily as to the town?
Yes. Gran Alacant is part of Santa Pola and gets exactly the same service, day or night. It is a separate drive up the cape, so you are told how long it looks before anyone sets off.
Can I explain the problem in English?
Yes. Calls are taken in English or Spanish, and so is everything said at the door. Messages on WhatsApp can be in either language too.
How do I find out what the job will cost?
The locksmith looks at the lock, explains what needs doing and agrees the price with you before starting. Nothing is begun until you have said yes.
How can I pay?
By cash, card or Bizum, once the work is done and you have checked the door.
Tell us where you are and what the door is doing
A call is quickest. A photo of the lock and a pin on WhatsApp work just as well.
